1st, while the name is enchanting, Magic Island is
not an Island.

2nd, its evolution started nearly a century ago from reclaimed swamplands to landfill to a park.

These realities do not diminish its present day beauty, popularity and glory.

From early morn to late evening, locals enjoy walking and running its paths. Also, this is one of the best spots on Oahu to try to catch a glimpse of the Green Flash - an elusive and fleeting burst of color that often occurs at sunset. The Green Flash phenomenon occurs as the top tip of the sun slips below the blue horizon of the sea.

Please note, due to the shifting juxtaposition of the earth and sun, the Green Flash is only visible from Magic Island during the winter months. Also, the air must be exceedingly clear. So, if you choose a sunset run and the conditions are really, really perfect, then Voila! You see it, but only for a second or two. So, have a good run, and . . .
