Cutlery,
Kitchenware, Hardware, Outdoor Knives & Scissors
If you have an interest in any of these areas, go to
Yangjiang, China.
Yangjiang is a primary manufacturing center for all
of these
with gross sales of US$1 billion a year.
Yangjiang isn’t a Johnny-Come-Lately to the industry.
Its people have been honing their skills for 1400 years, back
to when the Goths were sacking Rome. At that time, a Warrior
Queen directed the town people to make weapons for her troops.
Ever since then, the town (actually, it now has some 2.6 million
people) has been a place of whetstones and sharp blades. Now,
more than 1,300 manufacturers are in the business. Many of these
are high-tech with state of the art equipment and machinery.
Yangjiang has set its sights on the world.
Unfortunately,
doing business in Yangjiang can be a bit difficult for newcomers.
For starters, if you do not speak Chinese, it can be difficult.

Traveling to Yangjiang is not so simple.
Yangjiang is a port city some several hundred kilometers
(around 200 miles) down the South China coast from Hong Kong.
There is no passenger boat service to Hong Kong. Next, unless
you’re a bird, you can’t fly there. Also, there’s
no rail service. That leaves you with a six-hour bus ride
from Hong Kong.
If
you are a first time visitor, you'll find the trip to be a
pleasant adventure. Yangjiang has a 4-star hotel and some
of the best seafood in the world.
